Breakthrough Surf School is located in Nova Praia beach in Costa da Caparica, Portugal and it its the first beach after the jetties in the center of Caparica.
Nova Praia beach is also the perfect place to learn how to surf or to improve your surfing. During summer and late Spring the swells are smaller and the waves softer, and during Winter and Autumn the surf gets bigger and more powerful.
Nova Praia beach is the first beach after the jetties in central Caparica and that means that if you like to take long walks on the beach you have about 20 km of walking on uninterrupted sand if you head south. Along the way the way you will pass by many beach bars.
Just next to our beach (Nova Praia) is where you can find the famous colourful beach houses (Praia da Saude) where as soon as you step out off the house, your feet are on the sand and yes, you can stay in some of those houses, just search on Airbnb.

Arriving at our surf school in Nova Praia, Costa da Caparica
It’s easy to arrive here. Coming from the center of Caparica just head south and it’s the first beach when the promenade ends and just after the last jetty.
If you are coming from Lisbon, there are several ways to arrive at our surf school:
- If you are coming by car over the 25 of April bridge (over the Tagus river) just use this link in your gps.
- If you are coming by public transportation then you can for instance take the ferry boat to Trafaria and then take a bus, Uber or a long walk until the surf school. You can also take the ferry boat to Cacilhas or the train under the bridge and then take the bus or Uber.
